Time and again, I have heard stories from entrepreneurs on how they spent a lot of money on design and development of their websites, but were unable to fetch considerable traffic. It can take a large chunk of your mental energy and result in frustration if you invest and bet big on your business and it doesn’t work out as per expectations.
Relax. Don’t worry.
Give attention to on-page SEO factors like title, description, image alternate text, H1 tags, internal links, sitemap etc. This will make your site easily indexable by search engines who will be your primary source of traffic.
2. PPC Campaign
This is a quick way to get an instant spikeof traffic. PPC can send higher traffic to newly-launched websites in a short span of time than other mediums. It is advisable to spend money during initial days after launch to get traffic, but once you start getting a good number of visitors, you can stop your campaign in case you don’t want to continue spending on PPC campaign and want to focus more on organic traffic.
3. Social Media
Who is not aware of social media? All your visitors and potential customers are on social media and so should your business. Create a page on Facebook, official business account on Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. Share information about your company, services, team, goals and press releases. Keep your social media audience coming back for more by educating them using quality content.
4. Content Marketing
This has been predicted as one of the most followed online marketing trends to be followed in 2015. Write useful and relevant content for users that will bring genuine visitors to your website. Also, target long tail keywords as they are less competitive and bring targeted visitors.
5. Discounts Offers/Sale
Discounts and sale offers can work wonders even if it’s just for a selected range of products. This can bring large number of visitors to your website and help to increase your sales.
Flipkart’s Big Billion Sale is a big example of a poorly managed online sale. Many visitors had a disappointing shopping experience as the products on sale ended quickly soon after the launch of sale.
6. Real-Time Marketing
It is focused on current events, hottest trends and customer feedback and hence more customer centric. Businesses can gather valuable insights on latest buzz amongst their customers and mould their marketing campaign accordingly. It can be useful to reach out to maximum number of customers for a given moment.
7. Guest Blogging
Guest post on a reputable site can increase traffic and help build brand. You can also invite experts to blog on your own site. They’re likely to share and link to their guest article, which could bring new readers.
People are increasingly interested about knowing opinion of industry experts. Posting exclusive interviews of veterans can create massive traffic flow to your site as post would be shared in their social circle too and boost your credibility.
9. Email Marketing
Email marketing can be a powerful tool even if it’s only moderately successful. Send emails about latest discount offers or new product launch to those who have enrolled to receive updates through emails. Remember to comply by Canada’s anti-spam legislation (CASL) which came into effect July 1, 2014.
10. Fast Responsive Website
Large number of your potential visitors will be accessing web through mobile devices and it becomes imperative to design responsive website for mobiles and tablets. Make sure your website is accessible and viewable across a range of devices including smart phones.
11. Landing Page
Your visitor will move to second page or not will be decided by your landing page. It can make or break the overall image of your site. Unattractive design, unable to find required information and difficult navigation are some of the biggest factors that contribute to high bounce rates.
Keep an eye on your analytics data and use it to customize your web design strategy. Analyze which are the best and worst performing pages, keywords that got you highest traffic, conversion rates, bounce rates, demographics etc.
13. Aggregator Sites
Submit your link to Reddit and wait for traffic to pour in. Be ethical while posting your links. You don’t want to be caught in the grey area between quality link building/ traffic and spam.
14. Use Images and Video–Images and video are considered to hold attention of people for longer time than text. Eye-catchy images and interesting videos can help you get more visitors.
15. Research your competition
Analyze your competitors and find out what is working out well for them. Check out if their sites possess features that yours lack.
16. Webinars and Conferences
Organize free webinars on latest technologies and current trends and build a loyal visitors’ base. Attend conferences in your niche and spread the word. You have to be the credible authority representing your niche market.
